Working mainly in precious materials, we create jewellery that is inspired and informed by the history and purpose of jewellery. Using traditional handcrafting methods in a contemporary way to create jewellery that can be tailored and customised.
Lindsay is the artist, designer, craftswoman and creator of Laconic. Growing up on the coast of East Fife in Scotland, being surrounded by seaside and landscapes has influenced the desire to be outside amongst nature and inspiring creativity. This need and passion to be creative led Lindsay to Grays School of Art to study. It wasn't until she discovered the course in 3 Dimensional Design, which encompassed ceramics, glass and jewellery that she found something that combined the love of drawing with her interest in design.
Experimenting with materials and creating things with her hands was where the magic happened, enjoying bringing ideas to life. By choosing to specialise in jewellery, Lindsay then spent 6 months of this time studying in Belgium. Since graduating in 2010, she’s worked in the jewellery industry, with a background in retail and repair. Designing and making jewellery is where her passion lies and she continue to create jewels from her studio in Durham.
